אמיר אביבי הוא קצין צה"ל במילואים בדרגת תת-אלוף. הוא שירת כמפקד היחידה לייעוץ וביקורת של מערכת הביטחון הישראלית (כולל צבא ההגנה לישראל, משרד הביטחון ותע"ש מערכות). בתפקיד זה אביבי ניהל יותר ממאה מבקרים ויועצים . אביבי היה אמון על ביקורת מוכנות הצבא, תקציב, רכש, פרויקטים, מכרזים, סייבר, לוגיסטיקה, תשתית ומבצעים. אביבי שירת כמפקד חטיבה, סגן מפקד מחלקה, ומפקד בית הספר להנדסה צבאית. כמו כן שירת כראש לשכת הרמטכ"ל בוגי יעלון.אביבי לקח חלק פעיל בתהליך קבלת ההחלטות המדיני של הממשלה הישראלית ומערכת הבטחון באותה תקופה.  אביבי עמד בראש קבוצת העבודה "פתרון מדיני חדש". אביבי יזם והקים את תנועת "הביטחוניסטים".
